History of Am-Tech Collision, Body & Repair

Am-Tech Collision was founded in 1994 by Steve Ambrose in Houma, Louisiana, after years of body repair and painting work.

Steve showed an interest and aptitude for painting that began when he was only 16 years old. He inherited a 1969 pickup truck that he tore down to the frame, rebuilt and painted, using hand sanders, an air compressor and a quality spray gun. (We will be adding a picture of his very first project shortly!)

Steve's next project was a 1959 pickup truck with a wrap-around window that he again painted, using only the knowledge he had gained from books and the few bits and pieces which he gleaned from other painters.

In 1990, a change in circumstances led Steve to turn his hobby into a career when he began working at Roland's Pro Shop owned by Roland Delgate in Thibodaux, Louisiana, where Steve honed his skills. Over the next four years, he did body and paint work on 18-wheelers for Walter Romero Trucking and he continued his painting work for Ron Jackson at Color Me Custom in Houma, Louisiana. During this time period, he also opened Am-Tech Collision until he had to close the shop due to health problems.

Now Steve is home again in Choudrant, and he is operating Am-Tech Collision located at 737 Highway 821.
